In 1982, Lewis Leatherman saw a need for tax preparation and bookkeeping service for the citizens of his hometown and the surrounding area. Wanting to fill this need, he formed Leatherman Tax & Bookkeeping in Saginaw, Texas. His idea was to provide quality tax preparation and bookkeeping service to individuals and small to medium-sized businesses at affordable prices.
In order to continue proving the quality of service all clients deserve, all team members at Leatherman attend a total of over 300 hours of continuing education classes every year to stay abreast of the latest in tax law changes.
Lewis Leatherman and his team members attain the IRS Enrolled Agent (E.A.) status by completing the IRS-administered test. This status identifies tax professionals as specialists in Federal Taxation and ensures the client that the E.A. has kept up to date on the latest tax law changes. In addition, the E.A. status allows Lewis and his teams to represent clients before the IRS from examination through appeals.

Last 40 years, Leatherman has been servicing clients from Irving, Fort Worth, Lake Worth, Blue Mound, River Oaks, Richland Hills, North Richland Hills, Watauga, Azle, Haslet, Haltom City, and Weatherford from Saginaw main office. ​In 2019, Leatherman Inc opened a new office in Addison, Texas, to support Dallas and North Dallas businesses.
In 2021 September, we sadly had to move from our loving Saginaw office to our new office located at 3601 NE Loop 820, Suite 109, Fort Worth, Texas, 76137.
